Recently, I had the opportunity to join Mark Lane on the Ghosted by the Machine podcast to discuss a topic that has become deeply important to me: the growing disconnect between hiring systems and the people forced to navigate them.

Thank you to Mark for the invitation and for creating a space where these conversations can happen. If you're not already following his work, I encourage you to do so.

When I started Ghosted.work, I wanted to better understand a hiring experience that seemed increasingly disconnected from the people it was meant to serve.

What followed surprised me. Stories from executives, recent graduates, veterans, career changers, parents returning to the workforce, people with disabilities, and professionals who had spent decades building successful careers only to find themselves navigating a job market they no longer recognized. Those conversations became Ghosted.work.

Behind every article, every poll, every research project, and every post is a community of people willing to share their experiences so others know they are not alone.

Hiring has never been perfect, but today's environment has amplified many of its weaknesses. Automation, fragmented accountability, third-party advertising networks, AI-driven screening, and increasingly opaque hiring processes have made it harder for candidates to understand what is happening and why.

The challenge is that job seekers often have no meaningful way to question the process, raise concerns, or share their experiences without risking their professional reputation. Silence has become normalized.

Ghosted.work exists to change that.

Our mission is simple: bring transparency to hiring, elevate candidate voices, and encourage better practices through conversation, research, and accountability.

The community continues to grow because people recognize that hiring can be both efficient and humane. Technology can help people without replacing empathy. Processes can scale without abandoning communication.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed their stories, perspectives, and support along the way.

I'd love to hear your thoughts after listening to the episode.
