- Participate in our community (e.g., submitting stories, contacting us, or engaging via email/social);
- Request press information or partnerships.

- Anonymity First: Story submissions are reviewed and de-identified before any public use.

4. Information We Collect
A. Information you provide voluntarily
- Story submissions: text you submit (and any metadata you include). We ask you not to include names, emails, or other identifiers; we apply de-identification and editorial review before using any excerpts.
- Contact/press/partner requests: name, email, organization, and message content.
- Email signups (if enabled): email address and subscription preferences.
B. Information collected automatically
- Device/usage data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages viewed, timestamps, and referring URLs for security and basic analytics.
- Cookies or local storage: used sparingly for session continuity and preferences (see Cookies).
C. Sensitive information
We do not intentionally collect sensitive personal information. Please do not submit sensitive data in stories or forms.
5. How We Use Information
- Operate, secure, and improve the website and community experience;
- Review, de-identify, and curate submissions for aggregated insights or anonymized excerpts;
- Communicate with you (e.g., replies to inquiries, community updates if you opt in);
- Prevent abuse, troubleshoot issues, and enforce guidelines;
- Comply with legal obligations.
We do not use information for targeted advertising and do not sell or "share" personal data.
6. Legal Bases (GDPR/UK GDPR)
Where applicable, we process personal data on these bases:
- Consent (e.g., email subscriptions, optional cookies if enabled);
- Legitimate interests (site security, essential analytics, de-identification/editorial review of voluntarily submitted stories);

7. Retention
We keep information only as long as necessary for the purposes above, then delete or de-identify it.
- Story submissions: retained in de-identified form for curation and research. If identifiable details were inadvertently included, we attempt to remove them during review.
- Contact/press/partner messages: retained until the inquiry is resolved plus a reasonable period for follow-up and compliance.
- Email subscriptions: retained until you unsubscribe.
9. International Transfers
If we transfer data across borders, we use appropriate safeguards (e.g., Standard Contractual Clauses) where required by law.

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures appropriate to our size and risk profile (e.g., encryption in transit, access controls). No method is 100% secure; please submit only the minimum necessary information.

13. Community Submissions & Anonymity
- Please avoid names, employer names, emails, or other identifiers.
- We de-identify and moderate submissions for fairness, privacy, and safety.
- We may publish anonymized excerpts or aggregates to illustrate patterns.
- If you believe a published excerpt may identify you or someone else, contact someone.read.this@ghosted.work and we'll review promptly.
14. Third-Party Links & Embeds
Our site may link to external sites or display embeds (e.g., social posts). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Review their policies before interacting.
15. Children's Privacy
Ghosted.work is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child provided data, contact us and we will delete it.
